Pacific Business News LATEST NEWS April 13, 2004 Maui gated community sells new homes for $8 million and up Half the homes on Maui sell for more than $500,000, but if that's the median market, what's the high end? Try this: new home, more than 10 acres, more than $8 million. Oops, too late, it's sold already. Construction of three new homes at Maluhia at Wailea has begun, with two already completed and ready for occupancy by fall and the third due to be ready by this time next year. Some developments come up with different names for each section. This gated community on Wailea resort's Mokapu Beach is so exclusive that it names each individual home. Hale Mohalu and Hale Laukaha are currently available for $8.2 million, fully furnished. Hale Lani, which had been listed at $17 million, furnished, has been sold. This community is the only enclave of single-family homes on the ocean in Wailea and consists of 14 custom-designed residences and a private beach club with full time resident concierge. Developers always say their homes are nice. But Rob Harte, managing principal of Chicago-based PRM Realty Group LLC, characterizes his Maluhia homes as "timeless works of art." The design team includes architects Group 70 International, landscape architects Walters Kimura Motoda, and procurement specialists Crisscross LLC. Interior design is by PRM's Larry Frej and Group 70's Sheryl Seaman. Water features are designed by Groark Inc. © 2004 American City Business Journals Inc. |
